It's an open source platform which your team could plan to build into the app in the long run (or at least keep it around for announcing features, etc.), but early on it's helpful in that it is a form factor which doesn't require consistent engagement the way.
As you get going, it's a form factor which you can use to publish elsewhere on the web and draw folks in on the discussion.
