Hi everyone. I signed up a little while ago but failed to introduce myself. I've been active in online communities for over 10 years, but I still feel like a newbie. My favorite part of online community building is that it allows my introvert to be an extrovert.

Hi Piper and everyone here 👋🏼

I also failed to introduce myself a while ago and reading your intro gave me some courage to say hello as well. I think I’ll never not feel like a newbie in a new community either, but it always shifts to a positive feeling after rolling with it for a bit.

Hi Piper,

I'm completely new to community building, so what should I think about my self (if you still feel like a newbie). I think I'm an introvert too: I have very few real friends with whom I can be for hours, I was never the kind of persons who knows everyone in his quarter, but I don't have struggles talking to strangers (I think I enjoy talking, but I don't enjoy being in the center of attention). Do you think this compatible with community building?

Haha, I love that and will steal it! I've got pretty chronic stage fright and find networking events pretty intimidating, but find Zoom much easier to do both.

Hi Tanya,

It is great to have you here, I've built a marketplace for handy crafts here in Tunisia (back in 2014), it somehow failed because of a lack of community (and then budget), so knowing someone from Etsy is a real pleasure for me.
I'm launching a project that should connect communities together, with a hack to have them very engaged, I'd love to talk about it with you: here's my linkedIn: linkedin.com/in/zhamdi/

Hi all. I am an information architect, knowledge curator and interaction designer. I have been working on curation related field for over ten years. I was the Chief Information Architect of BagTheWeb which was an early tool for content curation (We launched the site in 2010). This experience inspired me to make a long term commitment to the Curation theme. After having 10 years of various curation-related practical work experience and theory learning, I coined a term called Curativity and developed Curativity Theory which became a book.

I also found several non-profit online communities about open learning with friends before 2014. Now I am moving to the direction of knowledge curation and action curation. I consider community curation is a part of the curation field.

Furthermore, I pay attention to the gap between theory and practice. I'd like to share some theories about community with everyone.

Hey 👋

Currently launching a community-based marketplace to help tiny brands and creators connect and collaborate with their audience.

I'm a strong believer that now is time to redesign the shopping experience for both the demand and the supply:

(Supply) -> In today's world, only the big ad spenders find tractions / sales. Most of them are not selling the best products / content / experience. Now is time to focus on the best brands and people that great stories but limited resources.

(Demand) -> We are bombarded by ads, content, messages & more. We also face unlimited product choice while having little to no way of backing our decisions.
Now is time to create a true curated and personalized online shopping experience.

Happy to discuss about this in more detail 🙌

Hi Bastien,

So you're a competitor (or a partner/maybe even cofounder :-) ), I'm working on a solution like that since 2018, I had a successful launch in Tunisia (with 1300+ visitors and 100+ hard engagements). Now I'm working on launching the business in the US.

How about talking together? here's my profile: linkedin.com/in/zhamdi/

Ola everyone!!!

I am an accidental entrepreneur, working on my own ventures since graduation. Started with running a coaching institute (forced community), then created a robotic irrigation system for farmers (product development was community-driven), then ran a coliving space (SimplyGuest) creating micro-communities for business growth, and finally now launching JumboTiger, it's a full-stack real-time conversational, property management software with special focus on coliving and HMOs. Here also the product revolves around how to scale communities using tech and make it a part of the mainstream property management software.

So have been involved with the word "Community" in various capacities. Personally, I am an avid runner (not a marathon, I just like running), reading and listening to non-fiction (my last book was atomic habits), learning new things (currently educating myself on community building), and talking to new people to learn from their experiences ( helps me write my novel :P).

Love talking to people and help them in any way I can. Looking forward to some great conversations here.

Nice to e-meet you all, G'day from Australia. Long time digital-er here, from 90's IRC to using early bulletin boards to stitch together Communities of Practice for healthcare professionals working across regional, rural, remote settings. Have been working in digital strategy and technical project management gigs since 2000, so its nice to see more emergence of CM as a discipline and better tools forming/integrating to support us in that work. Currently doing a PhD on applications of AI in healthcare (which has a strong CM flavour), but also handling PostGrad digital community needs for a student association, volunteering with coronawhy.org to keep building things needed in pandemic response. Best part for me is supporting people in remote areas to know they're not alone and support is always there (its just a little asynchronous at times).

Hi everyone,

I was searching how to build a community (I'm a tech guy who went entrepreneur), so a few googling brought me here.

I'm launching a business community management platform (WeAlly.org) that is the synthesis of all the projects I developed since 2000 (my first open source and blog). I was always focused on good products "build it, and they will come", and I realized the importance of a big active community lately.

So here I am as a newbie in the field

Hi all! I heard about this community for community builders at the General Assembly Career Camp. The majority of my work has been in learning and development in the public education sector with attention around building community within organizations internally and fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness. I love helping people get connected and allowing them to explore their own growth potential in that newfound experience. I have an interest in furthering my own learning around my shared experiences with the community here. My fun fact is that I am a huge Spidey fan!

Hello! I have been in the coworking industry for almost 4 years since accidentally discovering it shortly after graduating, and have found my passion in community building through it. I was recommended to this site by a pioneering community builder, Erica Kuhl, and am excited to learn more about the online community building side of this industry.

My favorite part of community building is seeing relationships develop and bloom into friendship/work partnerships. It's amazing seeing the creative endeavors that occur from people getting together.

I graduated with a degree in graphic design, and enjoy bringing my creativity to all the work I do. I've primarily worked with small businesses, so they hold a special place in my heart. This has also helped me develop a varied skill set, which I hope continues through my career path.

Looking forward to learning and growing through Community Club!

Hello Everyone!

I am Anna Mroczkowski, job title TBD, but will be in charge of all things community at FastSpring. FastSpring is a full-service ecommerce platform designed to help software companies increase revenue, expand their global footprint, and out-innovate their competitors.

I am currently in the process of building a community for our company's customers. I am a believer in allowing customers to really build a strong reputation with our company. I want them to feel like they can come to us for anything. I want FastSpring to be a leader, be transparent and also be somewhat vulnerable. I am however worried about customers only using the community for support inquiries and complaints.

I am a recent graduate and completely new to the community side of marketing. I have a background in public relations and social media marketing and I am so excited to launch my career in community. I obviously have A LOT to learn and I can't wait to get started.

As I am working in the tech/SaaS sector and would love to hop on zoom, chat online, or pick up a phone to talk to those in Tech/SaaS and learn how they have grown a community. :)
