How prominent is your ask for questions? Do you have an input front and center? Do you ask them to "create a post" vs "ask a question"?

How many boards do you have? Too many empty forums can be offputting -- looks like the community isn't active and there's nobody around to reply.

And lastly... who's answering the questions after they're asked?

Hi Andy! Great Questions!
It's not as prominent as it could be. We have a main discussion board and there is a giant CTA that asks for them to "ask a question".

We have 14 boards, which may sound like a lot, but each board has specific topics relevant to that, and there's not really any overlap.

We have been fortunate to have a lot of great discussions. If I see a post doesn't have a lot of responses, I am manually going to my network and asking people individually to respond, as well as going to other posts around sorta-similar topics and then asking to share their thoughts. I am also spending time to respond.

Would love to learn a bit more about your situation! Where is the content being shared? How are folks currently participating? What sort of tactics have you already tried?

Hey Alex! We have our main website. All of our content is there, in addition to the community side with our discussions and channels. A lot of members became members because they signed up to get full access content, but Im trying to figure out how to get them to start asking questions on our discussion boards. I have spent a lot of time manually reaching out, creating a weekly onboarding call has helped a lot, and being extremely personable through 1-1 communication. We have a lot of great discussions and thoughtful responses, but struggling to get the people who are there for articles/webinars/podcasts to start asking questions on the discussion boards.

Gotcha! I took a look around your site, and I'm assuming this type of post is what you're aiming for more of with these folks. I will say that as a casual consumer of content, having the "Join to unlock posting, commenting, and voting on any B2B Sales topic." popup got tiresome after the first few posts I viewed. I know you really want people to sign up and that these sorts of overlays have a decent conversion rate for account creation, but is there a chance that this is deterring folks from the get-go?

This may be a silly question, but are you sure that the folks who are there for articles/webinars/podcasts want to ask questions or be involved in the forum aspect of your community? Might there be a different way to get them involved in other initiatives?

I appreciate learning about the popup! We didnt realize that it was coming up more than once- so that's on the dev teams need to do list.

I dont think that is a silly question at all! I didnt think about that!
