Top ten tips for building a community from ground zero

Hello πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

As a fellow Forem creator, I am interested in the top 10 tips on how to grow a Forem community from scratch (no previous community on Slack, Twitter etc).

To kick the discussion off, one of the things I am doing is reaching out to members of other fairly toxic communities on Reddit and Facebook to introduce them to a more inclusive, welcoming and accessible platform. It’s slow though.

I am also focusing on content (cross posting) to ensure search traffic is coming in, and interacting with peers on the socials to help get the values of my community out there.

When I hit a certain threshold, I am also planning some future marketing (maybe a formal launch on product hunt and similar platforms) as well as a bit of marketing on socials and podcasts.

πŸ‘‹ I'm in a similar boat. It sounds like you have a plan. Where do they hangout in person? Can you reach out there?
