Growing tactics for me are similar to seeding your community. Find however many folks you need to start advocating on behalf of your community. While they're there, they can be seeding content and engaging and helping folks get started. While they're not in your community, they're hopefully proud of their work there and sharing their posts, content, insights, etc. outside of the community. You can encourage this behavior by launching a program that incentivizes them to do certain external activities that will benefit your community, and then finding motivating rewards to encourage further engagement. Your community will differ on motivations. My focus is developers, which are a completely different kind of community to grow. They see through the sales & marketing gimmicks.

A great example of this, is myself for this community. I LOVE helping people grow their communities and programs and I passionately spend time here and other places like this. Mostly to grow my reputation as a professional. So my motivators are the opportunities that folks will see I know what I am talking about (expertise proof) and increasing my reputation as a thought leader in the DevRel & Community space.
